How to Add Products to Your Store on Packet Africa

This guide covers how to configure shipping and add physical or digital products to an existing store, including product variants and custom order questions.

Before you begin

  • Your store must already be created. See How to Create a Store on Packet Africa.
  • If you plan to sell physical products, set up your shipping options first (Step 1 below) so delivery methods are available at checkout.

Step 1: Set Up Shipping (For Physical Products)

  1. Open your Store Dashboard (/dashboard/store/:storeId).
  2. Click the Shipping tab.
  3. Click + Add Option.
  4. Choose a shipping type and configure it:

Free ShippingPromotional campaignsSet the price to ₦0 and label it Free Promotional Shipping.
In-Person PickupPhysical retail pickupSet the price to ₦0 and provide your pickup address and collection hours.
  1. To make an option the default selection at checkout, click the three-dot menu on that option and select Set as Default.

If you’re only selling digital products, you can skip this step.

Step 2: Add a Product

  1. On your Store Dashboard, click the Products tab.
  2. Click + Add Product.
  3. Fill in the core product information:
    • Product Title — e.g. Packet Premium Oversized Hoodie or Complete Python Mastery Course.
    • Description — materials, sizing, or curriculum details.
    • Category — a product category tag.
    • Base Price (₦) — the standard price.
    • Inventory Stock — total available quantity.

Step 3: Choose a Product Type

Under Product Type, select one:

Physical

Requires inventory tracking, the shipping options you configured in Step 1, and a delivery address at checkout.

Digital

For eBooks, software, preset packs, templates, videos, or music.

  1. An upload zone titled Digital Files appears.
  2. Upload your downloadable asset (PDF, ZIP, MP3, MP4).
  3. Once payment is confirmed, Packet automatically generates a secure download link and delivers it to the buyer’s email and order confirmation screen.

Step 4: Add Product Variants (Optional)

If your product comes in different sizes, colors, or materials, expand the Variants section:

  1. Under Option Name, enter an attribute (e.g. Size).
  2. Under Option Values, enter comma-separated values (e.g. S, M, L, XL) and click Add Option.
  3. Add a second attribute if needed (e.g. Option Name: Color, Values: Black, White, Beige).
  4. Packet automatically generates a variant table for every combination (e.g. Size: S | Color: Black, Size: M | Color: White).
  5. For each variant row, you can set a specific Price, Stock Count, and SKU.

Step 5: Add Media, Custom Questions, and Disbursement (Optional)

  • Product Images — upload product gallery images, or select from your Image Wardrobe.
  • Custom Order Questions — expand Custom Fields and click + Add Custom Field to collect buyer personalization details before checkout (e.g. Name to engrave on watch, Custom tailoring measurements).
  • Product-Level Disbursement Override — under Payout Settings, link a dedicated bank account for this specific product. This is useful for multi-vendor stores or products whose revenue needs to route to a different department or team.

Click Add Product to publish.
