This guide walks you through setting up an event page on Packet Africa – including venue configuration, media, speaker lineups, and payout settings. Ticket tiers are added after the event is created.
Before you begin
- You need an active Packet Africa organizer account at app.packetafrica.com.
- Have your event banner image, speaker photos, and payout bank details ready before starting.
Step 1: Open the Event Builder
- Log in to app.packetafrica.com.
- On the left sidebar, click Event Ticketing (the Calendar icon).
- Click + Create Event in the top-right corner.
Step 2: Enter Event Details
Fill in the following fields:
- Title — the name of your event (e.g. Tech Summit Lagos 2026 or Faculty End-of-Year Dinner).
- Category — select from the dropdown: Tech, Entertainment, Campus, Faith, Business, and others.
- Description — use the built-in rich text editor to add a formatted event overview, schedule, dress code, or rules.
- Custom URL Slug — creates your shareable link:
packetafrica.com/events/your-event-slug. The platform checks availability in real time as you type.
Step 3: Set the Date and Time
- Precise Dates — set a Start Date & Time and End Date & Time using the date picker.
- Date Undisclosed (TBA) — toggle Date undisclosed if the date is not yet confirmed. Use this for early announcement or teaser campaigns before the date is finalized.
Step 4: Configure the Venue
Select your venue type:
Physical Event
- Select PHYSICAL.
- Enter the Street Address, City, State/Region, and Country.
- The address integrates with Google Maps on the public event page.
Virtual / Online Event
- Select ONLINE (VIRTUAL).
- Enter your Meeting Link (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, YouTube Live).
- Choose when the link is delivered to attendees:
- Immediate — sent in the ticket confirmation email right after checkout.
- Scheduled — automatically emailed a set number of hours before the event.
- Manual — you broadcast the link yourself from the dashboard when ready.
Location Not Yet Decided
Toggle Location undisclosed to hide venue details until you are ready to publish them.
Step 5: Upload Media and Add Lineup
Media
- Primary Hero Banner — upload a wide landscape image that appears at the top of your public event page. You can also select one from your Image Wardrobe.
- Additional Gallery Images — click Show more media to upload up to 3 extra photos (venue shots, previous editions, etc.).
- Promotional Video — attach an MP4 trailer or promo clip.
Lineup, Speakers, and Headliners
- Scroll to the Lineup section and click + Add Section.
- Select a Section Type: Speakers, Artists, or Lineups.
- Click + Add Member for each person:
- Choose their Role (e.g. Keynote Speaker, Panelist, Headliner, Performer).
- Enter their Name and Bio.
- Upload their headshot photo.
- Add social profile links (X/Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, WhatsApp, or Website).
- Repeat for each speaker or performer.
Step 6: Configure Settings and Payout
Expand the settings sections at the bottom of the form:
Additional Settings
- Allow refunds — enable if attendees can request refunds after purchase.
- Collect phone numbers — captures attendee mobile numbers during registration.
- Display attendee list — toggles public visibility of who is attending.
Custom Questions for Attendees
Click + Add Question to collect additional information at checkout (e.g. Dietary Preferences, T-Shirt Size, Company or Organization).
Payout Settings
- Choose fee bearer: Payer pays fee or Merchant absorbs fee.
- Enter your bank details for ticket revenue disbursement.
Click Create Event to publish.
